Andrés Corchero

Dancer and choreographer.

Critics Award 2021 to the best Dance Solo for the show Absèncias

National Dance Award of Catalonia 2003. For his artistic career and for the show;El bufón bajo la tormenta; in collaboration with the poet Feliu Formosa.

Applause Award 2001- FAD Sebastià Gasch Award for Performing Arts, together with Agustí Fernández, for the show;A modo de esperanza.

Award Al pas de la Tarda of Radio Nacional de España for his multidisciplinary shows together with Feliu Formosa.

Andrés Corchero. Born in Puertollano (Ciudad Real) in 1957. He has lived in Catalonia since 1963.

Honesty, risk and sensitivity are some of the qualities of Andrés Corchero work. His shows are intimate, elegant and full of emotion and his language is full of contemporaneity.

A tireless explorer of the languages of the body and dance, in 1985 he became acquainted with Butoh dance. He travels to Tokyo, where he studies and works with Kazuoh Ohno and Min Tanaka, world-renowned masters. From 1986 to 1995 she danced with Mai-Juku, a dance company directed by Min Tanaka.

For more than thirty-five years she has been alternating stage creation with teaching and pedagogy. He has spread Body Weather, taught classes and conducted workshops all over the world. From 2005 to 2023 he has been interim professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza and the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático del Institut del Teatre de Barcelona.

The delicate and precise quality of gesture and movement, added to his experience working with poets such as Feliu Formosa and Antonio Gamoneda, as well as the relationship with music with Agustí Fernández and Joan Saura, two important figures in the world of improvisation and music, as well as collaborations with figures such as Miguel Poveda and Silvia Pérez Cruz, are just some of his characteristics.

His career is full of collaborations with other choreographers among whom: Rosa Muñoz, with whom he founded the Raravis Company; Maria Muñoz and Pep Ramis of Mal Pelo, Angels Margarit, Hisako Horikawa and Oguri, the latter, a Japanese dancer with whom he has collaborated closely since 2012 until today. In July 2024 they will present their latest piece "Body as evidence" at the Grec Festival in Barcelona.
