MUM

Imparted by

MUM articulates a journey

that goes from “matter”

[what we are and what we have],
passes through the “threshold”

[where we challenge and transform ourselves]

and culminates in “movement”

[expression and movement].
challenge and transform ourselves]

and culminates in the “movement”

[the expression and communication of the process].

These three concepts form a system that guides both pedagogical development and the creative process.

As we acquire knowledge through personal practice, our patterns are strengthened, becoming recurring forms, become recurrent forms that trap us almost involuntarily.  This reduces the possibilities of transforming into other bodies, other ways of creating and interpreting movement.

MUM tries to place the body in that threshold where it can manage the known while it discovers the unknown. To achieve a freer body with infinite possibilities.

MATTER
Matter represents the body as a physical, emotional and symbolic substance. MUM starts from the idea that the is both an archive of experiences and a laboratory in constant transformation. It is the tangible basis from which all creation and learning starts. In this context, matter refers not only to the muscles and bones, etc. but also to the muscles and bones, etc., but also to the emotions and memories housed in the body.

Working with matter implies:
- Recognize and explore the capabilities and limits of the body.

- Experiment with the textures and densities of movement. To recognize the different entrance doors to access movement.  To recognize the different “systems”; muscular, bone, skin, blood, etc. and to be able to articulate them.
- To deepen the dialogue between the physical body and space.

THRESHOLD
The threshold is conceived as the transition space or frontier where transformation arises. It is an intermediate point between the known and the unknown, a place of uncertainty and creative possibility.

Working the threshold implies:
- Exploring moments of change and how they affect the body and mind.
- Identifying personal or technical limits and crossing them with intention.
- Fostering states of vulnerability that drive learning and artistic innovation.

_ MOVEMENT
Relates to both physical action and the internal flow of emotions and thoughts. Here, movement is not only understood as technical, but as an extension of matter and threshold.

Exploring movement means:
- Investigating the dynamics of energy, rhythm and form.
- Cultivating the connection between the internal impulse and its external manifestation.
- Recognizing movement as a vehicle for storytelling and conveying meaning.

_ MUSICAL SESSION
Having a live DJ during training transforms the experience into something unique and enriching. The live accompaniment synchronized with the development of the class not only brings dynamism and freshness, but also creates a constant dialogue between sound and movement, instantly adapting to the needs and energy of the dancers.

The DJ becomes a creative bridge, enhancing the emotional connection of the group. This generates a collective energy energy that flows and evolves in real time, inviting the dancers to explore new physical and emotional territories.

The use of rhythm as an engine drives the continuity of the movement, helping the performers to concentration and to deepen and stay in a living state. It fosters a state of immersion where the exploration of the body, the dynamics and textures of movement, becomes
more organic and visceral.
