The workshop proposes tools for improvisation based
on a look at movement in terms of tone, duration,
intensity and quality.
From listening to the rhythms of each body,
we will explore the range of physical possibilities
in relation to the muscular tone, the articulation
and dynamics of movement, the fragmentation of the actions
of the individual body and the “group body”.
There will be a series of guided study areas, individual, in pairs and groups, in which we will dedicate ourselves, on the one hand, to the anatomical observation of the gesture and, on the other hand, to the instantaneous writing, supporting the individual and group intention and intuition, investigating how sensory information opens paths to imagination, emotion and narrative of the gesture.
The themes we will address will be:
- Muscle tension: holding, pushing, receiving, moving and being moved for the other, observing how the variation of muscle tone provokes different physical and emotional reactions;
- Dynamics, imbalance and suspension: traveling between control and uncontrol, between letting go and taking back the reins of our actions;
- Precision, articulation and legibility of the gesture;
- Dissociation: directing our attention to the different parts of the body and playing with the writing of a polyphony of actions.
- Relationship: observing and interacting with the movements of others, copying shapes and trajectory or composing a rhythm with more voices;
- The dialogue between the sensory experience, the imaginary and the emotions;
- Silence: listening to the resonance of movements from stillness and stage presence;
- Writing, phrasing and the musicality of movement. Each class includes:
- an individual or paired warm-up to sensitize the body to somatic practices and body awareness;
- moments of exploration within the framework of the study areas;
- group improvisations with a variable number of people;
- moments of shared reflection.
