PRODUCTIONS

The entire structure of MUTIS ESPAZIOA is designed to support and nurture professional
contemporary dancers by providing

to refresh skills, stay active, acquire new techniques and tools,

and engage with different perspectives and ideas on dance

a partnership between Mutis (its technical and human resources,

its structure) and various choreographers and performers with long-standing careers and their own distinct vision

An opportunity that brings together those who dance daily at Mutis and the creators who visit us at our space with their unique perspective

and way of understanding movement

This synergy between Mutis and various choreographers from our local scene will enrich the artistic and technical team, open up new possibilities for distribution and collaboration, and combine strength, precision, youth and experience.

We are keen to enrich and revitalise the Basque dance scene and
to offer professional opportunities where risk, aspirations,
depth, detail and the immense all have a place.

The production line connects a newly formed generation of dancers with another in the midst of creative maturity. It combines and makes the most of the structures, resources and networks of MUTIS ESPAZIOA, its human capital and the people who make it up, to maximise the potential of artists and managers.

We want to

to acknowledge the present and contribute to the future;

to collaborate in the creation of new, European-inspired models that forge mutually beneficial partnerships between creative and training spaces, the market, the public and individuals;
strengthen contemporary dance, the dance of tomorrow, and the fabric that connects them.

I PRODUCTION - 2026 MUTIS + OLATZ DE ANDRÉS / PREMIERE AT KULTUR LEIOA AUDITORIUM / 24 APRIL 8.30PM.

CUERPOS QUE SE ENTREGAN A AQUELLO QUE VA A DESAPARECER.

This choreographic project explores the perception of time from a tangible, bodily and poetic dimension. It seeks to give form to the ephemeral, to what inevitably disappears, like dance itself. It is conceived as a one-hour stage production, based on the research carried out in the dissertation *Time as a Body in Choreography* (The Place, London) and building on two research processes, *Hacer Tiempo* and  *Entre 26 y 62 Artean*, as well as the research and creation modules conducted with the dancers of Mutis between 2023 and 2024, culminating in the durational piece *Time is a Muscle*, premiered at Azkuna Zentroa on 17 October 2024 as part of Olatz de Andrés’s Artist-in-Residence programme. Choreographically, it explores repetition as a means of transformation and trance, as a compositional tool to generate an endless choreography: a hypnotic journey, constructed through loops, repetitions and variations. A dance that erodes in the act of making, where wear and fatigue lend weight, history, density and presence to the bodies.
